Who we are
Aotearoa New Zealand Abortion Providers Group (APGANZ) is a multi-professional organisation formed to promote best practice, education, training and research in abortion care. The aim of the APGANZ shall be to improve the standard of abortion care in Aotearoa New Zealand.
What we do
APGANZ serves its members by providing a forum for professional development and networking, as well as by raising the profile of the specialty and improving understanding amongst those responsible for abortion-related policy, guidance, commissioning, regulation and training.
How do we do this
Promote, support and provide forums to educate professionals involved in abortion and sexual and reproductive health care to ensure current best practice and care.
Promote research in abortion and sexual and reproductive health care and to disseminate the findings of that research.
Promote national and international networking with other organisations in the area of abortion and sexual and reproductive health care.
Provide financial or other appropriate assistance to professionals wanting to further their skills and/or knowledge in abortion and sexual and reproductive health care.
Speak on behalf of and to advocate for the members with appropriate Government departments and other agencies in relation to standards of abortion care, clinical skills and abortion providers’ professional development requirements with appropriate Government departments and other agencies.
Provide and promote evidence based information about abortion care to the wider New Zealand public.
